NAB raids PDA office to take BRT record: Spokesperson
PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB-KP) Monday raided on office of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and took over all record of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
A NAB-KP team reached at PDA officer following the directives of Peshawar High Court and seized all record related to BRT project and shifted it to NAB office for further inquiry and investigation, NAB KP spokesperson confirmed when contacted by this agency.
It is to mention here that PHC on July 19 directed National Accountability Bureau to open investigations into BRT project and submit a report to this effect on September 5.
Terming it “shady and shaky” project, it ordered the bureau to check as to how the scope of the project had increased by 50 per cent while the last date of its completion was June 21.
It went on to add that the initial approved cost was an estimated Rs48.3 billion but a revised proposal called for an approval of Rs67.9 billion.
The Peshawar High Court observed that the project was contracted to a company that had been blacklisted by the Punjab government and that funds from other public projects were shifted to it.
The court had earlier referred the matter to the human rights directorate of Peshawar High Court, directing it to furnish a report regarding the progress of work, its environmental hazards and traffic issues at the end of each month.
