NAB recovers Rs31.5m cash from officer’s home

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau team in Karachi raided a residence of private secretary of a top official of Sindh Local Government Department and recovered Rs 31.5 million cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

The raid was conducted after Ramzan Solangi, aide of LG Secretary Sindh, confessed to have stashed huge amount of cash and other valuables at his home in Garden area.

Foreign currency was also recovered during the raid.

According to NAB, preliminary interrogations revealed that the arrested accused had been collecting millions of rupees as monthly bribes from various departmental heads.

It has also been unearthed that the accused was running a gang of such individuals who were actively involved in working for influential figures involved in misappropriation of funds of local government department

The NAB team says that confessions of the accused could lead to more recoveries and arrests.
