NAB should take care of people’s self-respect: Chairman Javed Iqbal

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Monday directed the NAB to take care of self-respect of the suspects being investigated as per law.

“Mega-corruption cases will not be run with the NAB for several years,” Javed Iqbal said while talking to media in Islamabad.

He said money embezzlement was the root cause of all evils.

The chairman NAB said the accountability watchdog was acting on the policy of merit, evidence and accountability for all.

On March 12, Javed Iqbal had said 303 billion rupees had been recovered from corrupt elements and deposited into the national exchequer.

“The NAB considers eradication of corruption from the country its prime responsibility,” Justice Javed Iqbal had said while addressing a business community event. He had said the country would be prosperous, if the business community would be prosperous.

He had said the anti-graft watchdog was using all resources to bring back those who had fled abroad.

The chairman NAB had said those who had illegally plundered wealth in the country had made big offshore assets like plazas and valuable assets in different countries.

He had said the accountability bureau did not hurt anybody’s self-respect during investigation.

“We summon people with all due respect,” he had said.
