NAB starts high-level investigation against Afzal

ISLAMABAD: Another close ally of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Minister of State for Finance Rana Afzal has allegedly involved in land grabbing as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has stated high level investigations against him.

The creditable sources stated that Raza Afzal had alleged grabbed costly government land of Rs. 10 billion at Faisalabad Markaz on the name of agriculture but later he established a commercial department on this land.

Sources stated that State Minister occupied a land in the heart of Faisalabad worth Rs. 10 billion as this land was occupied on the name of agriculture but used for commercial purposes.

Documents revealed that Rana Afzal has used his authority illegally occupied a land measuring 10 kanals and 5 marlas, and promised to construct a hospital of an NGO named “Sahil”.

However, NAB investigations revealed that 4 kanals and 16 Marla land had used for hospital, remaining government land was used for Bata Shoes and service stores (1 kanal and 8 marla), Rana Afzal residence (17 marlas), ground (6 marlas), mobile company and model college (8 marlas), empty area (2 kanal and 7 marlas), while under this whole land there is a marriage hall working commercially. Sources told to this scribe that in 1988 through Nawaz Sharif this land was got leased on the name of agriculture purposed. In last 27 years only one installment for this land paid in 1990, after that no leasing fee paid by Rana Afzal.

Documents further reveled that Rana Afzal has not paid a plenty of rupees 6 million, but the politician not paid it and trying to pull this issued to privilege committee of National Assembly.

Chairman privilege committees Rana Qasim Noon dismiss this issue and stated Rana Afzal as a swindler.
