Monitoring Desk

KABUL: Former head of National Directorate of Security (NDS), Rahmatullah Nabil on Thursday asked the Afghan government to conduct accountability of some people before the presidential election in the country.

Lauding the steps taken by the Afghan government against influential figures, Nabul said the neighboring countries were providing weapons to these people in Afghanistan. He was referring to the action of the government to surround the house of a former commander Din Muhammad Jurrat. The government is trying to disarm him.

Nabil made various signals. He was possibly referring to former national security advisor and presidential candidate Muhammad Hanif Atmar.

In a press release, Nabil said the Afghan government supported some people who had this with foreign intelligence agencies and are involved in corruption. These figures always created hurdles in the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

He urged the government to reopen the cases of corruption, theft and spying without any discrimination.

Nabil said some elements had secret deals and telephonic contacts with foreign country. They allowed installation of barbed wire in the Afghan soil. They were involved in embezzlement of money in the scam of Kabul Bank. They caused the collapse of provinces and motivated Daesh gunmen and signed agreements with foreign intelligence agencies.

He said these people ran illegitimate businesses in Afghanistan and made interference in the agreements of mining, adding that they formed parallel bodies in the presidential palace and destroyed the incomplete systems of Afghanistan through various tactics.

Nabil said these people eliminated civil movements and stopped the sacking of Iranian citizens in telecommunication networks.

He said the cases of these people had been handed over to the president for further necessary action. It was high time to process these cases, he added.

To a question of AIP about the identity of these people, Nabil said the Afghan people knew these figures. (AIP)
