Nabil reacts to killing of presidential guards

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The former Afghan intelligence chief Rahmatullah Nabil reacted to recent assassinations of the Afghan presidential guards in Kabul city.

“Fifteen years ago, when I was tasked to establish a new organization to protect president of AFG, I founded President Protective Service (PPS), In early days I designed this logo myself for (PPS). With all its shortcomings, the (PPS) is one the best professional institutions in the region and has been able to protect Presidents of AFG and their domestic & foreign guests in the difficult security situations of AFG,” Nabil said in a Twitter post.

However, he said “Lately, it has been seen that the brave PPS colleagues are being cowardly assassinated, It hurts me a lot.” This comes as two separate incidents involving the assassination of PPS guards have been reported in Kabul city during the recent weeks.

Unknown gunmen assassinated one of the members of PPS, Syed Ataulah Mirzayee, in the second street of Taimani at around 4 pm local time on Saturday.

The Interior Ministry officials said last week that gunmen opened fire on the two PPS personnel in Paghman district.

The officials further added that one of the PPS personnel, Qeyamuddin Maqsoodi, lost his life in the attack and another one sustained injuries. (Khaama Press)
