NADRA introduces ‘Ijazat Apki’ protect people’s privacy

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a distinctive service, ‘Ijazat Apki’, on Thursday.

Under the service, citizens will have the option either to withhold or share their personal information with the Authority.

Similarly, the verification of the national identity card of a citizen would be done only after obtaining his or her consent. This will ensure complete protection of that citizen’s personal information.

The service launched by the NADRA speaks in volumes of its commitment to keeping personal information of people confidential.

Expressing his views on the service, NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik has said it reflects the vision of the organisation. “Your data is akin to your property. And now you are completely free either to give or deny access to this information,” he has said.

Malik has further said that these days people’s moral standards are falling, and it cannot be ruled out that the information citizens give is used against them; therefore, the NADRA is giving them completely right either to share or conceal it. “People’s data is not for sale, but a precious asset to whose protection, the Authority is committed,” he has asserted.
