Nandipur power project case: Court reserves its verdict on Babar Awan’s acquittal appeal

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court has reserved its verdict on PTI leader Babar Awan’s acquittal appeal in Nandipur reference, on Friday.

According to details, Judge Arshad Malik of Accountability Court heard the case in Islamabad’s Judicial Complex.

During the hearing, the NAB’s prosecutor said he is done with his arguments in the case and not interested to present more.

To this, the judge reserved its verdict on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan’s plea seeking acquittal from the reference and said to pronounce the verdict on April 30.

It may be recalled that the NAB court earlier, had reserved the verdict in the case twice but deferred the announcement of its reserved verdict on acquittal plea filed by former law minister Dr Babar Awan.

The National Accountability Bureau in the reference, contended that the project had faced a delay of two years, one month and 15 days, resulting in a loss of Rs 27.3 billion to the national exchequer.

The power plant project, located in Gujranwala district of Punjab, could not be completed and operated on time because the accused failed to issue legal opinions.
