JALALABAD: Two people were killed, including a militant, and nine civilians wounded as a result of two back-to-back blasts on Monday. Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman said the first explosion took place in Chaparhar district, where an explosive device went off at a fair. He said nine people were wounded, two of them seriously.
They were evacuated to the Jalalabad Zonal Hospital. Niaz Mohammad, a resident of the locality, said the explosion occurred in the district’s main bazaar, where a weekly fair is arranged every Monday.
Also in the morning, one insurgent and a civilian were killed in the Nakarkhel area of Khogyani district.
According to Khogyani, the explosion happened after a mine exploded in front of a shop. He did not say who had planted the bomb.
