ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says he believes that parliamentary leaders should be taken into confidence regarding the National Action Plan (NAP) on counter terrorism.
Speaking to media, Qureshi said Pakistan was going through critical time; hence the nation needs to be united.
The foreign minister said he would speak to the prime minister regarding NAP and taking parliamentary leaders into confidence on the matter.
“We are implementing NAP in view of the current circumstances.”
He said Pakistan was propagating its stance to the world diplomatically in response to Indian aggression. “The steps we have taken are quite commendable,” he stated.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said he also conveyed to the Saudi foreign minister regarding steps taken by Pakistan against banned outfits.
He informed that foreign ministers of Germany and Turkey were coming to Pakistan, where they would also be briefed on the current situation.
Qureshi said he would also inform the US national security adviser about Pakistan’s measures against terrorism.
Two days ago, Qureshi had said Pakistan released Indian pilot [Abhinandan Varthaman] in the ‘national interest’.
“The Indian jets were shot down by our Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilots Hassan Siddiqui and Nauman Ali Khan. Both are our national heroes,” Qureshi said in the National Assembly.
He said the recent steps taken by the government of Pakistan were in the interest of the country. “We gave a befitting response to India when it was required,” he added.
