Naqeebullah killing: Supreme Court gives 10 days to Sindh police to arrest Rao Anwar

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday has given 10 more days to Sindh Police to arrest suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar, who is prime accused in the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in a fake encounter in Karachi.

The Supreme Court also ordered the media to stop airing the statements of suspended police officer. The chief justice also ordered all state institutions, including intelligence agencies, to help the police in tracing the suspect.

Chief Justice of Pakistan also warned the absconding officer of initiating contempt proceedings against him for not appearing before the court.

IG Sindh A.D Khawaja informed the court that police have requested all the concerned departments to find the location of Anwar.

Khawaja also presented an inquiry report on Naqeebullah killing case and adding that it appeared to be a coordinated fake encounter.

Earlier on January 12, SSP Rao Anwar claimed that they have killed four alleged members of banned outfit Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a police encounter took place in Shah Latif Town of Karachi. Amongst these four alleged terrorists was 27-years-old Naseemullah, alias Naqeeb Mehsud.

Social society and family of started protest and claimed that Naqeeb was abducted on 3rd January and his killing is extrajudicial.
