Narrative of Abbasi, Sharif on role of ‘aerial beings’ damages image of institutions: Sirajul Haq

F.P. Report

GUJRAT: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the narrative of the Prime Minister and ousted Premier Nawaz Sharif regarding the role of the “aerial beings” in the coming elections was the same and it had damaged the image of the state institutions.

He was talking to the media after addressing the congregation of the JI workers from Gujranwala division at Gujrat on Friday. Sirajul Haq said that those talking of facing “unseen forces” were trying to increase their weight-age and gain public sympathies.

JI Punjab chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed, provincial general secretary Bilal Qudrat Butt and JI Gujrat district chief Dr Tariq Saleem, also spoke on the occasion. The JI chief stressed upon the Election Commission to bring to an end the atmosphere of uncertainty about elections and initiate measures that would ensure fair and transparent polls.

Earlier, the JI chief told the party workers that the MMA was facing the secular forces and the corrupt people. He said that the abolition of the system based on corruption was essential to wipe out corruption from the country.

Sirajul Haq said the religious alliance was still at the initial stage but its opponents had started criticism. He said it was interesting that when the religious parties forged unity, the opponents made the comment that these people had got together only for Islamabad (political power). But when these parties were divided, the opponents would say that the religious people and parties could not unite because of their differences. However, he said that the opponents’ uncalled for criticism of the MMA proved that they were greatly perturbed over this alliance.

Sirajul Haq asked the liberals if any religious leader had been named in the panama leaks or other scandal. The JI chief said that unfortunately, the secular elements simply hated the bearded people. However, he said, “we love the bearded people, and the MMA has a vision of a green and prosperous Pakistan”. He said that the PTI’s eleven point agenda was exactly like the JI five point agenda which he had presented at the JI Ijtema at the Minar e Pakistan many years back.

Sirajul Haq said that the JI’s alliance with the PTI in Khyber P. was a ruling alliance and it was not a policy alliance. He pointed out that the PTI had staged a sit-in in the federal capital and PTI MNAs had resigned from the National Assembly.

He said that this was not JI’s agenda and the JI had supported the parliament. He said that now when the MMA had been revived, the JI had quitted the Khyber P government in a democratic way. However, he said, the JI would not support any move to undo the PTI government in Khyber and if the Khyber P, government presented the provincial budget, the JI would support it.

Sirajul Haq said that the Khyber P, Chief Minister, members of the cabinet and the Chief Secretary had lauded the performance of the JI in the province. He said some people were posing a question why the JI MPAs did not vote for the PTI candidate in the Senate election. “ I would say that the PTI MPAs had voted for Salim Mandiwala instead of their party candidate.

He further said that the JI MPAs had voted for Raja Zafarul Haq because he ( Raja) had supported JI’s amendment on the Khatme Nubuwwat issue.
