KARACHI: The nation are celebrating the 52 Defence Day with traditional enthusiasm and showing their love towards the land.
The change of guard ceremonies at the mausoleum of Mazar-e-Quiad in Karachi and Allama Iqbal in Lahore which is the start of celebration of September 6 and ceremony at the Pakistan Navy Headquarter in Islamabad will also be held.
On the same day in 1965, the Indian forces crossed the international border in the darkness of night and attacked Pakistan but the Army and nation reacted strongly and tarnished the dream of enemy of destroying Pakistan.
Different events are set to be held in the whole country to celebrate the Defence Day and the main event of the day will be held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to pay tributes to the martyrs. Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa will address the ceremony, expected to be held in the evening.
Events, seminars and rallies are also being organised in Azad Jammu and Kashmir today to highlight the significance of the day.
In Muzaffarabad, the main function will be held at Neelum Stadium which will also be attended by AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan.
