‘National Newspapers Readership Day’: Information Department issues message

F.P. Report
PESHAWAR: On ‘National Newspapers Readership Day’, we celebrate the value of printed news in our lives. In a world increasingly driven by digital media, this day serves as a reminder of the irreplaceable role newspapers play in shaping our society.
In an age of rapid information dissemination, newspapers continue to hold a special place. They provide credible information in an ocean of misinformation. With seasoned journalists and editorial standards, newspapers are an example of truth and accountability.
In a message issued by Information Department on Sunday, ‘National Newspapers Readership Day’ observed every year on 25th September is an opportunity to salute the editors, reporters, photographers, and countless others who work tirelessly to deliver the news to our doorstep every day.
Print media serve as a platform for dialogue, debate, and the exchange of ideas, nurturing a sense of national identity.
Today, I would like to address the vital role of a free press in upholding the principles of democracy, particularly in the context of free and fair elections. As the Minister of Information, it is imperative to emphasize the significance of an independent and responsible media in ensuring the integrity of our electoral processes.
In a democratic society, free and fair elections are the cornerstone of a vibrant and accountable government. They provide citizens with the opportunity to voice their preferences and choose their leaders. However, these elections can only be truly democratic with the active participation of a well-informed electorate. The free press plays an indispensable role in safeguarding these democratic principles.
The role of ‘All Pakistan Newspaper Society’ is very important here and they have been playing a very important role in the development and sustenance of print media in Pakistan.
On this occasion of National Newspapers Readership Day, the Government of KP proudly repeats its commitment to a free and vibrant press, thereby safeguarding the tradition of responsible journalism within our province.
