F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Friday said the nation’s protection and safety from the coronavirus pandemic was the first priority of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a joint media briefing along with Dire-ctor General of Inter-Serv-ices Public Relations about the NCOC, the SAPM said the NCOC would review the implementation of decisions taken to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The NCOC, which was inaugurated by the prime minister as a nerve center earlier in the day, would provide a platform to all the stakeholders to perform their assigned functions smoothly, she added.

Firdous praised Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his team for providing an unprecedented support to the government in the toughest time.

The federal and provincial governments, in coordination with all the institutions, were making joint efforts to defeat the unseen enemy, she added.

Firdous said the prime minister expressed concern about hoarding and smuggling, and directed the related departments to take stern actions against hoarders.
