Nawaz Sharif asks NAB to investigate the elevation of Saqib Nisar as CJP

ISLAMABAD: The disqualified prime minister and facing corruption cases in accountability court, Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should investigate the unusual elevation of Saqib Nisar from law secretary to the top judge of the country.

Nawaz questioned this while talking to media persons outside the accountability court. The PML-N Quaid for life admitted that it was his mistake not to abolish the NAB as it was introduced by a dictator.

Nawaz claimed that there no chance of corruption against the Sharif family and still not a single penny was proved against them then why they are trying to prolonged the hearing.

He added that the people of Pakistan knew very well that how the judiciary is treating them (Sharif family) from the last eight months and adding that it is need of hour for the reforms in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that CJP Saqib Nisar had completing his law degree from University of Punjab; he joined the legal profession in 1980.

Later he was appointed as the federal law secretary on March 29, 1997, when he became the first member of the bar to be appointed to the important position.

Subsequently, he was elevated as a Judge of the Lahore High Court on in 1998 and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2010.

Mian Saqib Nisar took oath as the Chief Justice of Pakistan on 31.12.2016 and his tenure would end in January 2019.
