ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was re-elected as the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the next four years.
Chief election commissioner of PML-N, Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal has formally announced the decision which was taken at the party’s general council meeting at Convention center Islamabad on Tuesday. Former premier Nawaz Sharif was elected unopposed as no candidate submitted nomination papers against him.
Senior PML-N leaders, including Nawaz, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif are present at the event.
Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by Supreme Court in Panama case and after that he was not eligible to hold party position but on Monday the PML-N passed the Election Bill 2017 which pave way for entering in the politics for Nawaz Sharif.
