Nawaz Sharif to file appeal in High Court

LAHORE (NNI): Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has decided to file appeals against the sentence in the Avenfield reference and the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
This was decided in a meeting with party leaders at the Jati Umra house of the leader of PML-N Nawaz Sharif on Sunday.
Sources said that appeals against the convictions in both references will also be filed in the Islamabad High Court on Monday. Nawaz Sharif is expected to leave Islamabad on Monday, said sources.
Sources said that Nawaz Sharif will also meet important party leaders and legal and constitutional experts in Islamabad.
While talking to leaders Nawaz Sharif Said that we were first subjected to political revenge, now we hope to get relief from the courts.
In this regard former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz and legal expert Atta Nazir Tarar also met with Nawaz Sharif and discussed the legal issues.
In the meeting of the leaders with Nawaz Sharif, there was a detailed discussion on the upcoming general elections, Avenfield reference, Al-Azizia Steel Mill reference, Tosha Khana case and other important legal matters. “We will focus all our energies on the economic prosperity of Pakistan”, said Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif also met with Hamza Shehbaz’s wife and sisters in Jati Umra while Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Mehra-ul-Nisaa, her son-in-law Raheel Munir and children also met with Nawaz Sharif.
Ahsan Iqbal hopes judiciary will do justice with Nawaz Sharif
Former federal minister Ahsan Iqbal said Sunday that those who had Nawaz Sharif punished in false cases were gone, adding it was hoped that the independent judiciary of Pakistan would give justice to him.
Speaking to the media after the funeral of Mian Akhtar Latif, brother of former federal minister Mian Javed Latif in Sheikhupura, Ahsan Iqbal said that Nawaz Sharif had the right to redress the injustice meted out to him.
He said it had been proved that after 2017, Nawaz Sharif was implicated and disqualified in false cases.
He added the Minar-e-Pakistan meeting had proved that the Muslim League-N was the biggest political force in Pakistan.
“The vision presented by Nawaz Sharif for the future is the roadmap for Pakistan. The entire nation is united now. Nawaz Sharif should be supported so that Pakistan could be taken out of the economic crisis,” he said.
