Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about SC, a declaration of war: Siraj

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Senator Sirajul Haq has said that Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about the Supreme Court (SC) were a declaration of war against the judiciary.

He was addressing the heads of JI’s Public Relations wing from all over the country at Mansoora on Friday. As per issued statement, he said, the accountability process initiated by the court would not stop due to the ousted Prime Minister’s outbursts.

Sirajul Haq said that instead of glancing over his past and extending a helping hand to the Supreme Court for corruption control, Nawaz Sharif was threatening the apex court. ‘Nawaz Sharif’s remarks had shocked the common man in the country who could not even imagine that a person who had held the high office of the Prime Minister thrice should stoop so low,’ he added.

The JI chief made it clear that corruption could not be wiped out without a permanent and strong accountability system, and added that a ruthless accountability of the plunderers was the demand of the entire nation as also the need of the hour.

Sirajul Haq said that the government had so far not taken any action against the elements behind the bid to amend the laws relating to the Khatm e Nubuwwat.

He said that neither the report of Raja Zafrul Haq committee been out nor the culprits had being identified and punished. Referring to the issue of FATA, JI chief said the government was continuously cheating the people of tribal areas by delaying FATA’s merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite its announcement in this regard.
