LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) top leader Nawaz Sharif’s medical board head Dr Mehmood Ayaz said on Tuesday that the former prime minister’s illness can be treated in Pakistan.
While speaking to media in Lahore, the doctor said Nawaz is suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and issues related to the blood arteries.
The medical examination had been carried out in detail by heads of different medical departments, he added.
Dr Ayaz said as per the privacy law, he could not share the details of the former premier’s medical reports, however, the Punjab home department had been recommended to shift Nawaz to cardiac hospital for further examination.
On Monday, Punjab Information Fayazul Hasan Chohan claimed that incarcerated PML-N supremo wanted to go London for medical treatment.
“Nawaz Sharif wants to go to London for treatment, although his medical reports are normal,” the minister remarked during an event.
On February 3, ex-PM’s medical test results had shown kidney stones, and doctors had recommended a routine surgery to get rid of them.
Nawaz underwent CT scan and ultrasound as well as blood tests on Saturday, a day after he was shifted to the Services Hospital from Kot Lakhpat Jail due to cardiac complications.
According to details, the report of kidney scan had shown minor stones in his left kidney.
