NDMA update

National Management Authority is in the forefront of war against coronavirus outbreak. Chairman of the Authority Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal has made a worrying statement about the shortage of the most essential equipment needed during treatment of patients of COVID-19 i.e. ventilators because it hits the respiratory tract and lungs. He told senior journalists that out 2200 ventilators; approximately 50 percent are not operational. He said in this grim times of corona pandemic, China is the only country who has extended their warm hands to facilitate Pakistan to combat this menace by providing all necessary medical equipment. Moreover, Chinese government has instructed its industries to streamline supplies of medical equipment to Pakistan and the arrival of 17000 ventilators for the treatment of patients of COVID-19, masks and other equipment for the protection of doctors, nurses and premedical staff is expected soon.

The update of NDMA Chairman tells how healthcare system has been utterly neglected during the past elected government and PTI government is making all out efforts to win the war against corona virus about which leaders of opposition parties do not refrain from point scoring. The most ridiculous statement about the present government relentless fight against coronavirus containment has been made by Mir Hasil Bizinjo of National Party during the All Parties Conference on Tuesday. He said allowing the entry of stranded Pakistanis from Iran and lack of screening facilities at Taftan border is a national crime. Similarly, President Baluchistan National Party Akhtar Maingal equated the Quarantine Center in Baluchistan with a refugee camp. He forgot that that none of the provincial governments in the past had ever thought about the necessity of establishing this facility because Baluch Chietians are fond of ruling and exploiting the Baluchs and laying the blame at the door of federal government. If they cannot appreciate the efforts of present federal and provincial governments for containing the spread of contagion, they at least should not ridicule their struggle to fight coronavirus.
