KABUL: A key Taliban group militant involved in the making of improvised explosive devices was killed along with five others during the operations of the Afghan Intelligence operatives, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in eastern Nangarhar province.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the operations were conducted in Adwar area of Khogyani district in the early hours of Friday morning. The statement further added that the Taliban IED maker killed during the operation has been identified as Zarin and at least one militant was also wounded.
The NDS forces also arrested two suspects for having links with the anti-government armed groups, the Nangarhar governor’s office added. The provincial government also added that the NDS forces have confiscated one Ak-47 rifle, a communication device set, and five magazines of Ak-47 rifle during the operation.
The security forces and local residents have not suffered any casualty during the operation, the statement added.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
