Nearly 1.5 million children in KP deprived of education

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: The survey conducted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education department has revealed that nearly 1.5 million children across the province do not go to schools.

Out of these 15 lac minors, there are one million girls and half million boys. It has also been learnt that more than 0.6 million kids on primary level, and around 0.9 million on secondary level are deprived of education.

According to the report, the main reasons behind children not in schools are poverty, lack of facilities in schools and transportation, absence of nearby schools and lack of interest in studies.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced education emergency in KP as soon as it assumed charge of provincial government, and annually ran campaigns to admit children to schools but could not achieve the desired results.

On the other hand, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is spending more than twenty-six billion rupees on provision of missing facilities in schools.

The missing facilities including construction of additional rooms, boundary walls, provision of electricity, playgrounds, clean drinking water, furniture and other necessary facilities will be provided in twenty thousand schools.

These facilities have already been arranged in fifteen thousand schools of the province.
