KABUL (Tolonews): The department of counter-narcotics of the Interior Ministry said that nearly 100,000 drug addicts have been collected since the Islamic Emirate came to power.
The head of the chief of staff for the deputy minister for counter-narcotics, Haseebullah Ahmadi, said that these addicts were taken into rehabilitation centers.
“We are considering establishing 10 more supporting centers in the provinces as the number of addicts are high there, and providing them with educational and crafting opportunities,” Ahmadi said.
The drug addicts who have been treated in the rehabilitation centers told TOLOnews that they had learned crating as well.
“We are very happy that we have been treated. We are learning crafting in the centers,” said Hujratullah, a rehabilitated drug addict.
“I call on the Islamic Emirate to collect all drug addicts and treat them,” said Mohibullah, a rehabilitated drug addict.
The analysts believe that the drug addicts should be provided with work opportunities.
“The ground for the drug addicts should be provided and efforts for counter-narcotics should be taken,” said Mohammad Matin Mohammad Khail, a political analyst.
The department of counter-narcotics of the Interior Ministry said that efforts are underway to establish two major rehabilitation centers in two zones of Afghanistan in the future.
