ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is likely to increase the power tariff by Rs 0.16 per KWH on account of fuel price adjustment for the month of March 2019.
The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA)’ application in this context says the reference price of electricity was set Rs4.99 per KWH but the production cost of electricity remained at Rs5.15 per unit.
The agency suggested increasing Rs0.14 per unit on account of previous adjustment and supplementary charges while Rs0.1 per unit increase is suggested for transmission losses.
CPPA further said that 14.02% of electricity was produced by coal, 24.05% from gas, 23.40% from RNLG and 11.52% from atomic energy.
The cost of electricity from coal is RS6.97 per KWH, Rs11.35 from furnace oil, and Rs5.76 from gas and Rs9.84 from RLNG.
