NFC award formula needs to be reviewed: Fawad Ch

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not in favor of withdrawing powers from the provinces but the formula for the NFC award, which is designed to distribute money among the provinces, must be reviewed.

In his interview to British Broadcasting Company (BBC), he said that huge amount of money goes to the provinces under NFC award but the federation is left with nothing.

The minister said that the federation has to repay the loans, run bigger projects and has to give defence budget.

Chaudhry went on to say that the office of the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary in the provinces are the biggest obstacle to the transfer of powers.

The minister termed described the Chief Ministers as more powerful than the Prime Minister in his interview.

He denied that there was any deal with former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on the amendment in NAB laws.
