Nikki L. Floris Named Intelligence Analyst in Charge of the Intelligence Division of the Washington Field Office

WASHINGTON: Director Christopher Wray has named Nikki L. Floris as the intelligence analyst in charge of the Intelligence Division of the Washington Field Office. Ms. Floris most recently served as a deputy assistant director in the Counterintelligence Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Floris is the first person to hold the position of intelligence analyst in charge at an FBI field office.

Ms. Floris joined the FBI as an intelligence analyst in 2005 and was assigned to the Directorate of Intelligence at Headquarters. She served on the director’s daily briefing staff and helped produce executive-level briefing documents.

In 2008, she transferred to the San Diego Field Office and served as the domain management coordinator and as lead of the Counterterrorism Analytic Team. She was part of the team that investigated a senior commander of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

Ms. Floris returned to the Counterterrorism Division at Headquarters in 2010 as a supervisory intelligence analyst in the Arabian Peninsula Terrorism Analysis Unit. She was later named unit chief and led efforts to identify, target, and disrupt AQAP activities in the United States.

In 2011, Ms. Floris was named the assistant section chief of the division’s Counterterrorism Analysis Section, responsible for operational and policy-making decisions and strategies involving terrorist recruitment, radicalization, and threats in the United States and overseas. She was named section chief in 2013.

Ms. Floris was promoted in 2017 to deputy assistant director in the Counterterrorism Division, where she oversaw terrorism financing operations, strategic operations, and counterterrorism analysis. She moved to the Counterintelligence Division as deputy assistant director of its Intelligence Branch in 2018, where she oversaw all intelligence and strategic functions for the FBI’s counterintelligence program and served as the FBI’s election security lead for the 2020 presidential elections.

Prior to joining the FBI, Ms. Floris was a lead systems analyst in the private sector. She earned a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in criminal justice.
