KARACHI: Father of a minor girl who had passed away due to medical negligence, announced to hold a sit-in against unregistered hospitals from today. He demanded to arrest hospital owners and to close unlicensed hospitals.
The 9-month-old girl Nashwa, who suffered brain damage after allegedly being administered a wrong injection at Karachi’s Darul Sehat hospital, passed away earlier this week.
Nashwa’s father, Qaiser Ali, while speaking to media, said that his demand that a commission should be formed against unregistered hospitals and Darul-Sehat Hospital should be handed over to the Sindh government, was not fulfilled.
Nashwa’s father lamented that the promises made by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah were not fulfilled.
He said only five hospitals in Karachi have license. The participants of the sit-in showed placards saying negligence of doctors is a crime.
Earlier, the father had said he would be left with no choice but to stage a sit-in if his demands were not met by the authorities.
Calling for action against unregistered hospitals, he demanded an independent inquiry commission, headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, to investigate the incident.
