No compromise on sovereignty: ISPR

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor on Wednesday said that no compromise would be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity. Talking to a private news channel, he said, “Our valiant armed forces are present on the borders for defending the motherland.” He said Pakistan and the United States were still friends. Although there had been ups and downs in their relations, the two countries were coalition partners.

“We want to move forward together,” he added. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said Pakistan with over 220 million population was a responsible state, which had achieved many successes in the war against terrorism. He said,”We were moving ahead and achieving more successes against terrorists prior to the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.” India, he added, did not want Pakistan to get successes in the fight against terrorism. He said Pakistan had cooperated with the US and it wanted that relationship to continue. To a question, he said without resolving issues with India, durable peace could not be ensured in the region. Replying to another query, he said the reaction of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif over the statement of US president was commendable. It was appreciable that a unanimous stance had been adopted over Donald Trump’s tweet, he added.
