No-confidence motion: PM Imran’s fate likely to be decided on March 28

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The government will call the National Assembly session on March 21 and the voting on the no-confidence motion which was submitted by the opposition to the assembly secretariat will be held on March 28.

Sources divulged on Monday that the government has decided to call the session of the lower house next Monday (March 21) and the voting on the no-trust move against Prime Minister Imran Khan will be held on March 28.

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar earlier on Monday tweeted that Prime Minister Imran Khan would address a historic gathering of people in the D Chowk of Islamabad on March 27.

In a tit-for-tat manner, the opposition parties – PML-N and JUI – have also announced that they would hold a public rally in the D Chowk asking their workers and activists to get ready for holding their show of strength in the federal capital. .

The opposition is quite confident about the success of its no-trust motion against the premier claiming to have enlisted support of majority of the members of parliament.

The opposition submitted its motion against the prime minister on March 8. National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was not present in his chamber when the Opposition leaders reached there.

Due to speaker’s absence, the opposition leaders handed over the no-trust motion under Article 95 Clause 1 to Additional Secretary Legislation Muhammad Mushtaq in the National Assembly Secretariat.

The no-confidence motion document carried signatures of 100 lawmakers.

The NA speaker is now bound to call the assembly session within 14 days to take up the no-trust motion.

Opposition parties are holding a flurry of meetings between themselves and the government allies to woo their support. While on the other hand, the government is also trying to pacify its allies so that they would not ditch it.
