Non-custom paid vehicles owners stage demo

LANDI KOTAL: Political workers and owners of the non- custom paid vehicles initiated protest demonstration on Thursday at Charwazgai area of Landi Kotal against ignoring of the act of the Parliament and notification of Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) notification allowing non-custom paid vehicles to run in Khyber district.

Scores of workers of Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam Fazalrehman (JUI-F),Awami National Party (ANP) Karwan-e-Khyber and owners of the non-custom paid while holding black flags, criticizing the authorities for refusing of not imposing the act of the Parliament and permission order of FBR allowed the vehicles to move on the road for five years. The protesters, who were chanted slogans in favor of their demands, blocked the Pak-Afghan highway at Charwazgai point of Landi Kotal for three hours.

Addressing to the angry mob their leader including district ameer JUI-F, Mufti Ijaz, President ANP, Shah Hussain Shinwari, Nadeem Afridi and others said that FBR and the Commissioner Peshawar through a notification allowed the movement of non-custom paid cars in the entire Khyber district but regretfully, the forces did not follow the order of the administration and restricted all the vehicles to its concerned sub-division.

They added that maximum employment in the area was connected to non-custom paid vehicle as the residents could not afford custom paid cars; therefore like Malakand design pro-masses policy should be adopted to facilitate the militancy hit Khyber district. The protest threatened that till acceptance of their demand, they would not give up their agitation.

Later on the protesters meet with the commandant Khyber Rifles, Col Farrukh Humayun who assured them that till end of the current month all the 7000 registered non-custom paid would be permitted to run on the road throughout the Khyber district.
