Noor will have to go; Dawood to take over soon

KABUL: The National Unity Government has promised introducing a new governor for northern Balkh province at all costs.

About few days back, President Ashraf Ghani accepted Governor Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation and announced Eng. Dawood as his replacement.

However, Dawood has not been formally installed so far. In the meantime, Noor has refused to accept the presidential decision, saying he had submitted his resignation last year based on certain conditions.

Addressing public gatherings in recent days, Noor said he was still the governor of Balk and would remain in that position in future as well.

A reliable government source told Pajhwok Afghan News the government was committed to replacing Noor at all costs. Noor had been sacked and had no right to continue as governor, the official said, adding that no one is greater then law, which applied to everyone.

On the other hand, the former governor claims he has resigned his slot according to a deal with the government but his conditions were yet to be met.
