SEOUL (RIA Novosti): The DPRK is ready not only to officially proclaim the end of the war with South Korea, but also to restore the inter-Korean liaison office and hold a summit of the leaders of the countries in the presence of mutual respect and fairness in relations that would ensure unhindered communication between the parties, according to the statement of the sister of DPRK leader Kim Jong-un, deputy Head of the Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea Kim Yeo Jong.
“Only when (South Korea – ed.) Begins to behave fairly and show mutual respect, unhindered communication will begin between North and South Korea, and moreover, it will be possible not only without wasting time, with a sense to declare the end of the war, but also through constructive discussion one after another will significantly and successfully resolve (issues – ed.) the restoration of relations, such as the restoration of the inter-Korean liaison office and the holding of a meeting of the leaders of the two countries, “said Kim Yeo-jong in a statement released by the North Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTAC).
Previously, Kim Yeo-jong has already stated that Pyongyang is ready for dialogue with Seoul, if South Korea does not show hostility, guarantees mutual respect and renounces its prejudices and “unfair double standards.”
She added that the DPRK considers Seoul’s proposal to declare an end to the war an interesting and good idea, but at the right time and subject to the conditions necessary for such a discussion.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in, speaking at the high-level week of the UN General Assembly, once again proposed to declare the end of the war on the Korean Peninsula in the presence of the United States and China. In his opinion, this will make it possible to achieve irreversible progress in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
