North Waziristan students relishes hospitality at UoP

PESHAWAR: Post Graduate Degree College (PGDC) Miranshah students’ along faculty oriented to UoP peace overtures around a contingent of fifty delegates representing post graduate degree college, including intermediate students and bachelor students visited University of Peshawar, to know about possible future educational course of action for visiting students.

Maj.Riaz of Punjab 57 regiment guided the tour to the University where they were officially courted by Curator SSAQ museum of ethnology and Archaeology Dr.Zakir Ullah Jan and Dr.Nida Ullah Sehrai.

Dr.Nida Ullah Sehrai routed the guests through six museum galleries to make students felt the passion of time in 40 minutes through pre-historic eras to ‘Gandhara’ epoch to modern Peshawar, once city of flowers ‘Pushpupura’ in Gandharan times with Lotus floating calmly on the banks and streams of Peshawar.

Dr. Nida pointed out to the students the worth of stupas, statues, craft, architecture and impact of Gandharan civilization on the far eastern countries and modern day international relations.

He mentioned Hund, Charsadda and Peshawar as three major cities of this civilization.  Later, students visited gallery of numismatics to see the ancient metallic currencies.

Students along senior faculty member Aftab Khan planted the trees of Araucaria along with Maj.Riaz to be part of national drive clean and green movement at SSAQ northern lawn for commemorating the visit.

Later, Director IPCS, Prof. Dr.Hussian Shaheed Soherwardi, give a detailed presentation the students in detail about the price of peace and patience for progress at the Institute of peace and conflict studies.

He invited students to apply for next year BS programs admissions and MSc admissions not on quota but on merit to stand tall among fellow students. He pointed out in the conference hall, many a student hailing from tribal areas as a motivation to visiting students.

During the briefing, cut some neutral jokes to amuse the students from North Waziristan.At the end, Dr.Amir Raza from Political Science gave the visiting students a tour of Political Science library and pledge to give books to Miranshah College on demand.

The guests enjoyed a hi-tea with students of Political science and later departed for their next leg of tour to Qila Balahisar.
