KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday said the number of registered voters in the country had risen to record high.
The ECP has released the number of voters in Pakistan.
According to the ECP, the number of registered voters has crossed 107.514 million.
“The number of male voters has ascended to 60.02 million, while the number of women voters has went up to 47.486 million,” said the ECP.
Male voters are 56 percent, while female voters are 44 percent in the list of registered electors.
Sources said more than 1.6 million voters had registered following the general elections.
In October last year, the ECP had revealed that 84pc of registered e-voters used their right to vote in the by-elections.
As many as 5,117 voters cast their votes for National Assembly while 1,016 polled for their desired candidates for provincial assemblies.
According to reports, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had said that it had foiled 1200 hacking attempts on the voting website that was created to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis to exercise their voting right.
For the first time, expats exercised their right to franchise in a by-election through i-voting.
The ECP in collaboration with NADRA had developed a software for online voting for overseas Pakistanis.
