JALALABAD: Numerous Taliban and police were killed and wounded during a clash in the Khugyani district of Nangarhar province, officials said Thursday.
Taliban gunmen attacked security post of Memla Bagh, Khugyani district, said Attaullah Khugyani, spokesman of Nangarhar governor.
In the ensuing clash, seven Taliban and a civil order police were killed while a cop and nine Taliban wounded, he told AIP. Local residents, however, said only a Taliban commander sustained injuries in the clash.
The injured fighter named Samandar and was deputy slain Taliban commander, Malak Jaipur Khan, in neighboring Sherzad district, a local resident told AIP. Local Taliban also confirmed injuries to Samandar Khan.
