Olive, Malta fruit harvest surpasses 3 thousand tons

JALALABAD: The local officials in eastern Nangarhar province are saying that the Olive and Malta fruit harvest has surpassed three thousand tons this year.

The officials are saying that around 3,334 tons of Malta fruit and Olive were harvested from the agricultural fields in Nangarhar.

According to the officials, the Olive harvest reached 834 tons while Malta fruit harvest reached to 2500 tons from Nangarhar Canals and Agriculture fields as well as the private fields.

The officials further add that 60 thousand liters of Olive oil and thousands of liters of pickles have been produced from the harvested Malta fruit and Olive. In the meantime, the officials are saying that Citrus fields have been established over 2,200 acres of land while thousands of acrs of Citrus fields have been rehabilitated.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the Canals and Agriculture Directorate has raised around two million plants consisting of fruit producing plants which are being distributed among the people free of any charges.

The statement further adds that the agriculture directorate has also vaccinated more than one million animals while hundreds of agriculture and livestock projects have been implemented in various parts of the province.
