Omar Ayub appointed Leader of Opposition in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and PTI leader Omar Ayub has been elected as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The National Assembly Secretariat issued a notification in this regard. Omar Ayub will be the leader of the independent members of the Opposition.

Omar Ayub along with Gohar Ali Khan and Amir Dogar called on the National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and discussed with him issue of the appointment of the Opposition leader.

Omar Ayub later thanked the members of the Opposition for expressing confidence in him.

He said they have come into the parliament to represent the people of Pakistan. “The people who were brought into the assembly on ‘crutches’ will be opposed,” he added.
