KOHAT: At least one policeman was martyred and three terrorists were killed in a firing incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district, police said on Saturday.
According to Regional Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat ASI Ashfaq was martyred and two others were injured in an operation against terrorists.
He said three terrorists have been killed and several others injured as police retaliated [against terrorists] in the mountains of Darmalak.
He said an operation is underway to arrest the injured terrorists, the official added. Regional Police Officer Kohat asserted that police will not let the sacrifices of martyrs go in vain.
Funeral prayers of ASI Ashfaq offered at Kohat Police Lines
The funeral prayers of ASI Ashfaq, who was martyred in the firing of terrorists in Tehsil Lachi, Kohat, were offered at the Police Lines. The funeral prayers were attended by RPO Abbas Majeed, Commissioner Kohat Division Mutasim Ballah Shah, DPO Dr. Zahidullah, various district officers, political and social figures and police personnel.
After the funeral prayer, a well-dressed police contingent presented a salute to the martyr’s body, after which the martyr was sent to his native village.
Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has lauded Kohat police for successful operation against Fitna-ul-Kharij terrorists in Lachi police station limits of Kohat.
Naqvi lauds police’s professionalism for defeating terrorists. He said police took timely action and thwarted the evil intentions of the Khawarij.
Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to ASI Ashfaq, who was martyred by the firing of Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists. Interior Minister expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family of martyred ASI Ashfaq.
Naqvi prayed for the speedy recovery of 2 injured police personnel.
