HELMAND: At least one person was killed and forty three others were wounded in a traffic incident in Helmand.
The governor’s office in Helmand in a statement said the incident took place between Washir of Helmand and Delaram of Nimroz on a highway. The statement further added that a passenger bus carrying scores of civilians collided with a tanker, leaving at least one dead and forty three others wounded, including women and children.
According to the provincial government, the wounded civilians have been shifted to 215th military corps hospital for the treatment.
The majority of the road accidents are taking place due to bad conditions of the roads, lack of traffic signs as well as reckless driving which largely contributes to deadly incidents in the country.
This comes as at least four people were killed and several others were wounded in a similar incident on Kandahar-Helmand highway nearly three months ago.
Earlier, nearly forty people were killed or wounded in a similar incident in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. The incident took place in Pacher Agam district after a mini-bus carrying several people veered off from the road and crashed into a large ditch.
