Opp parties reject collection of data through Tiger Force in Dir

TIMERGARA: Rejecting the establishment of Tigers’ force for collection of data of poor people and distribution of financial assistance the Lower Dir chapter of Awami national Party on Wednesday demanded of the government to assign the task to the Pakistan army and district administration instead of political activists.

The ANP district president MPA Haji Bahadar Khan and general secretary Malik Muhammad Zeb told local journalists here announced to bring people on the roads if the survey was conducted by political activists. They said the task should be assigned to personnel of the Pakistan army, district administration or former representatives of local government for impartial, apolitical and transparent survey. “We will not accept the date collection by PTI activists,” Haji Bahadar Khan said, adding that such surveys were conducted by LG representatives and Pakistan army after the 2005 earth quake and 2010 flash floods.

The ANP leaders also demanded disinfection sprays in all streets of the district. They said that prices of flour, ghee, sugar, vegetable etc had soared amid lockdown. They demanded of the government to take notice of the price hike. The ANP also demanded exemption of gas, power and telephone bills for at least six months.

Meanwhile, the PPP leader and former provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan while speaking at a news conference at Chakdara also demanded of the government to provide relief assistance to poor people through administration. He complained that Corona virus suspects and quarantined people had not been provided with any relief so far. He alleged the government wanted to compensate its workers in the garb of Tiger force instead of deserving ones. The PPP former lawmaker said they would not let the government to politicize its relief package.

He said the nation and all political parties were united in fight against the deadliest Covid-19 but the PTI government policy would sabotage all such efforts. He said the Prime Minister was spreading disappointment and unrest among the countrymen instead of taking concrete steps for controlling the virus spread.  

Moreover, the Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF) district president Fazal Mehmood on Wednesday told local journalists that the AKF so far had distributed 7000 face masks, 5000 sanitizers, Rs 2000 each to 110 labourers, 15000 awareness pamphlets and food packages among 100 families at Talash, 60 in Adenzai and 150 in Khall tehsil. He said the organization also conducted disinfection sprays in 350 mosques in different areas of the district.
