F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Leaders of the Opposition Grand Alliance, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Asad Qaiser Friday urged a national dialogue to address the country’s political and security crises.

Addressing a press conference, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, speaking on behalf of the Tehreek-e- Tahafuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan, reiterated his longstanding call for institutions to come together and uphold the rule of law.

“Before the elections, we had suggested that all institutions should sit down and discuss the future course. But the elections were conducted using money and force,” he said.

Criticizing the government’s handling of national issues, he stated, “A year has passed, and they are still stuck in the same trap. I believe these people cannot handle this crisis.”

Achakzai proposed an All-Parties Conference (APC) to bring all stakeholders to the table, emphasizing that true stability could only be achieved by admitting past mistakes and properly implementing the existing constitution.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar praised the security forces for preventing a major terrorist attack, comparing it to the tragic 2014 APS Peshawar massacre.

“We pay tribute to the security forces for their timely action. We strongly condemn this act of terrorism and call for united efforts against such threats,” he said. However, he criticized government ministers for using the incident to target PTI on social media, calling for an APC to ensure collective action against terrorism.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza highlighted the chaotic situation in the country, questioning the role of the Federal Minister of Defense.

“For 24 hours, the country was in a state of anarchy. Who was responsible?” he asked, demanding an in-camera session to discuss pressing security concerns. He stressed that national issues should be addressed through dialogue rather than political point-scoring.

The Opposition Grand Alliance announced plans to hold a grand conference, aiming to bring together all political forces to address the nation’s challenges.

“We stand united against terrorism and offer our condolences to the families affected. A full investigation must be conducted into recent attacks,” Hamid Raza added, also criticizing the government’s silence on the Jafar Express incident.

The alliance leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s stability, stating that their ultimate goal was the country’s progress. “This is the desire of Imran Khan, and it is the desire of everyone in this room,” Hamid Raza concluded.

Asad Qaiser, in his address, accused the government of incompetence and moral failure.

“First, it was your security lapse. If you had the courage, you would admit it was your mistake,” he said.

Criticizing the legitimacy of the current administration, he argued that when election mandates are stolen, no effective policies can be made. “They don’t have time to govern; they are only thinking about how to break PTI,” he alleged.

Qaiser stressed that Pakistanis deserve a government that represents them genuinely. “Until a real government is formed, such incidents will continue. We need to unite the entire nation and leadership for the sake of Pakistan,” he concluded.
