Opposition submits no-trust motion against PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The joint Opposition has submitted its no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan at the National Assembly Secretariat while Speaker Asad Qaiser was not present.

PML-N leaders Ayaz Sadiq, while holding a file in his hands probably the documents they wanted to submit, Saad Rafiq and Marriyum Aurangzeb submitted the no-trust motion at the National Assembly Secretariat Tuesday afternoon. And they were not alone, PPP’s Shazia Marri, Alia Kamran and Naveed Qamari and JUI’s Shahida Akhtar Ali also accompanied them.

It was interesting to note that National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was not present in his chamber when the Opposition leaders landed there.

Due to speaker’s absence, the opposition leaders handed over the no-trust motion under Article 95 clause 1 to Additional Secretary Legislation Muhammad Mushtaq in the National Assembly Secretariat.

The no-confidence motion document carried signatures of 100 lawmakers.

The NA speaker is now bound to call the Assembly session within 14 days to take up the no-trust motion.

Sources also informed the TV channel that the Opposition parties have informed the National Assembly Secretariat in advance that they were coming.

According to the sources, the Opposition Big Three – Asif Ali Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehamn – will break the decision to the public at a joint news conference in Islamabad at 4:30 pm today. The joint presser was first reported to be held at 3:30 pm but later it was delayed to 4:30 pm.

Zardari reaches Rawat T Chowk to meet Bilawal

Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has reached Rawat T Chowk, Islamabad where he will meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Both PPP leaders will discuss the current political environment in the country, and they will also take stock of the strategy for moving the party’s long march deep into Islamabad.

It is to be noted here that the political temperature in Islamabad has climbed up with submission of the requisition by the opposition parties for convening the National Assembly session within 14 days.
