Opposition’s All Parties Conference to be held on June 26

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Conference (APC) of the opposition parties shall be held on June 26 with an objective of launching a protest campaign for toppling the government, according to a statement issued by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F).

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman will host the conference in Islamabad on June 26 at 11am.

Besides, the meeting will also exchange views over the change of the chairman of the Senate, and the passing of the recently proposed budget for the upcoming financial year 2019-20.

Furthermore, it will be debated upon whether the opposition leaders will appear before the Commission of Inquiry formed by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan to probe loans taken by the previous governments of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Meanwhile, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said that the decision to accept or reject the Commission of Inquiry, and the choice to whether topple the government would be taken by the APC.

Regarding a possibility of reaching an NRO with the government, Mr Zardari said: “If I were to gain something, then I wouldn’t have spent 12 years in jail.”

Moreover, regarding an “approval” over a commission formed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the PPP co-chairman subjected it to the decisions of the APC.

The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif would represent the PML-N, and PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz along with senior leaders of the party would also attend the conference to formulate a joint strategy against the government.

On the other hand, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will represent PPP.

Senior party members of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and Awami National Party (ANP), Balochistan National Party (BNP) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) are expected to attend the conference. All political parties are expected to attend the conference.
