MOSCOW (RIA Novosti): The orbit of the International Space Station will be corrected on January 12, Roscosmos reports .
“The planned correction of the orbital altitude of the International Space Station is scheduled for January 12, 2022 and is carried out in order to form ballistic conditions before the launch of the Soyuz MS-21 manned spacecraft into orbit and the Soyuz MS-19 landing,” the statement says.
It is specified that at 21.09 Moscow time the propulsion system of the Progress MS-18 cargo vehicle should be switched on. It will run for 292.5 seconds. After the maneuver, the station’s orbital altitude will increase by 850 meters, and the average orbital altitude will increase to 417.73 kilometers.
Now the crew of the 66th expedition is working on board the International Space Station – Roscosmos cosmonauts, ISS Commander Anton Shkaplerov and Petr Dubrov , as well as NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburne , Keila Barron and ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer.
