Orlando hostage: Four children, suspect found dead, confirms police

ORLANDO: Police said that at least four children were killed and the hostage also took his own life at the end of hostage drama in Florida on Monday.

The suffering started on Sunday in Orlando and a police officer was also shot when police responded to a report of domestic violence at an apartment. The police officer remains in critical condition.

Orlando police chief John Mina told a news conference that the gunman remained holed up in the apartment overnight and all day Monday with the children, who were aged one, six, 10 and 11.

He added that when police entered in the apartments, we found that all four children have been killed by the suspect by apparent gunshot wounds.

Mina added that the suspects took his life as well.

The gunman has been identified as Gary Lindsey, 35, and that he was a felon on probation for arson and other offenses.

Local media reported that two of the children were believed to be his and other two were of the woman who reported Lindsey for hitting her.

That woman called police after fleeing the apartment Sunday night.
