Over 200 Afghan migrants deported from Pakistan

KABUL (Agencies): According to reports, over 200 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported as part of Pakistan’s policy to expel them.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation on Wednesday, said on its social media platform X that the expulsion of 243 Afghan migrants by the interim government of Pakistan. The Ministry added that these migrants returned to the country on January 16th after their expulsion. According to the ministry’s newsletter, these migrants reentered the country through the Spin Boldak border in Kandahar province and the Torkham border in Nangarhar province.
On the other hand, Pakistani media reported on Saturday, that the Torkham border has been closed to cargo trucks.
Meanwhile, Khan Jan Achakzai, the Information Minister of Balochistan, Pakistan, stated that the interim government of Pakistan has implemented a “uniform visa regime” for all transit routes with Afghanistan recently.
Mr. Khan also mentioned that having a visa is now a requirement for drivers of Afghan cargo trucks on the Torkham route. Furthermore, Taliban authorities have pointed out that such actions by Pakistan should not be repeated in the future, as 90% of Afghan drivers and patients do not possess passports.
According to reports, Taliban officials in this meeting have complained that Pakistan has closed the Torkham border without prior notice, and if this practice continues, they may “permanently” close this border crossing. Recently, Pakistan has imposed further restrictions on migrants and cargo truck drivers at the country’s border crossings.
