“Paani Do Vote Lo” campaign begins in Landi Kotal

F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: On the eve of general election, “Paani Do Vote Lo”(Give us water and take our vote) campaign started by zealous youths here in various localities of Landi Kotal, district Khyber aimed to attract attention of candidates for the solution of long last problems, scarcity of drinking water.

Ilyas Shinwari, leader of Qaumi Masail Committee Landi Kotal who ran the “Paani Do Vote Lo” campaign said that due to ignoring the attitude of the ex-parliamentarians when they were in power, they started the drive as if it was real time to reject them.

On the arrival of the general election, they initiated the campaign to seek a solution for their most neglected miseries.

It was an affirmative development in tribal society that poor masses joined their voices for the cause, he opined.

He observed that the youth community would boycott the election and would never cast their votes in the upcoming election,if they did not get a guarantee for the solution of their problem.

The disheartened tribesmen through wall chalking and banners hovered in their villages asked candidates contesting for Provincial and National Assemblies seats to supply them potable water before carrying out election drives in their villages.

Sharifullah, resident of Khuga Khel said that the candidates of the constituencies were sympathized and made false promises during their election campaign however after succession they forget miseries of their voters and spend their energies for their own interest rather than to think of poor masses.

In this time we will not be deceived and ask the candidates to resolve prior their core problem of scarcity of drinking water.

It would also sensitize the winning candidates of the upcoming election not to neglect their voters, he added.

When the former provincial assembly member of the constituency Shafiq Sher Afrid was contacted on the matter he said although he was in opposition in the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government he strived hard to address the long last demand of the people.

He further said that because of the constant drought of climate change, the water table in Landi Kotal had further deepened but he had functional gravity schemes in various localities to overcome the problem of scarcity of potable water.

He vowed that if elected Ali Masjid or Shelman water supply schemes would be initiated to resolve the water issue in Landi Kotal one for all.
