ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has welcomed the role of United States in ending the conflict between Pakistan and India. This he said while addressing to a session of Pak-US dialogue in Islamabad on Monday.
Khwaja Asif said that Pakistan and US has long standing ties and adding Pakistan has reservation over the new US policy for the regions and blaming Pakistan for instability in the region.
Foreign Minister added that no one has more desire of peace in Afghanistan than Pakistan as it directly affects our country. There is no organized presence of terrorists in the country and if anyone has the proves provide it we will take action against them, he added.
The Track 2-1.5 meeting in Islamabad was attended by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale and Wilson Center Asia Program Deputy Director Michael Kugelman among others.
Earlier, Hale said to the session about the new US policy, he said that it was based on regional realities and aimed at closing down terrorist safe havens. The Taliban will have to be pressurized until they agree to hold talks, Hale added.
