Pakistan, China agree on CPEC’s future trajectory

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed on theChina Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) furture trajectory and timely completion of its ongoing projects, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.

Clarifying a news aired on media earlier, the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform’s spokesperson said none of the CPEC projects are facing delay. “The successful 8th Joint Cooperation Committee meeting laid foundation for the expansion of CPEC to new heights.”

He added that joint efforts are underway for focusing on socio-economic development and accelerating cooperation in industrial development as well as agriculture. “Recognizing the significance of Gwadar as an important node in cross-regional connectivity and the central pillar of CPEC, Pakistan and China have further agreed to speed up progress on the Port and its auxiliary projects.”

The spokesperson concluded that Pakistan and China expedited cooperation in the field of agriculture with a special focus on enhancing cooperation in the areas of climate change, water management, afforestation and ecological restoration.
